In the middle of March, a slew of lawsuits were filed against Apple claiming the Cupertino, Calif.-based Company misadvertised Siri, which is the company’s intelligent personal assistant software announced on the iPhone 4S in October of last year. The lawsuits said Apple used its commercials to convey a “misleading and deceptive message” about Siri. However, in typical fashion, Apple firmly disagreed. Apple is working to get the class-action lawsuit dismissed from a California court by claiming customers could return the iPhone within 30 days of purchase if they are unhappy with Siri....

Apple has announced its latest quarter results including $45.4b in revenue and $8.72 profit from 41m iPhones, 11.4m iPads, and 4.29m Macs sold. FY17 Q3 results compare to the previous quarter’s $52.9 billion in revenue, $11.03 billion in profit, 50.7 million iPhones, 8.92 million iPads, and 4.19 million Macs. In the same quarter a year ago, Apple reported $42.4 billion in revenue, $7.8 billion in profit, 40.4 millions iPhones sold, 9....

Apple today has stopped signing iOS 12.1.2 and iOS 12.1.1, which means it is no longer possible to downgrade from iOS 12.1.3. Apple regularly stops signing older versions of iOS to ensures users stay on the most up-to-date builds for security and stability reasons. Generally, Apple stops signing older releases of iOS within a few weeks of an update’s release to prevent downgrades. Prior to today, Apple had most recently stopped signing iOS 12....

Apple’s WWDC event kicks off on Monday, but App Store head Phil Schiller is already sharing some major changes coming to the App Store that will impact developers. The news comes just six months after Schiller added additional App Store responsibilities to his role. Late last week Apple announced its iPhone event for next Wednesday, September 12 at 10 AM PT. We are expecting three new iPhones, an updated Apple Watch with all-new design, and more. The event will be held at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. Apple announced today the deadline for developers’ sandboxing their Mac App Store apps was extended from March 1 to June. The restriction coupled with the introduction of Apple’s Gatekeeper feature in Mountain Lion, which automatically prevents apps not signed by Apple recognized developers from running in 10.8, creates a much more controlled ecosystem for apps on OS X. Of course, Gatekeeper can at this point be easily bypassed to run non-Apple approved apps, and sandboxing is simply meant to limit an application’s control within the OS to prevent malicious activity....

A Seattle-based law firm is preparing to file a class action lawsuit against Apple over iOS updates bricking iPhones whose home buttons have been repaired or replaced by third-party companies. The Guardian reports that lawyers PCVA are inviting those who have experienced the ‘Error 53’ problem to contact them. A London-based lawyer also believes that the issue may place Apple in breach of consumer law in the UK … Apple says that the issue is a security feature designed to ensure that Touch ID cannot be compromised....

Apple Fitness+ is slated to launch sometime before the end of 2020, though no exact date has yet been announced. Ahead of the launch, Fitness+ instructors are taking to Instagram to tease that the service is launching “soon” and that they are in the process of recording workouts. Nearly all the below Instagram images have been shared within the last week, highlighting that Apple is likely encouraging Fitness+ instructors to tease the launch of the service....

Apple is facing yet another antitrust investigation, though this one seems odd: It’s an examination of the Apple/Google duopoly in the mobile operating system market. Apple’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook just announced a new dividend and share repurchase program at this morning’s conference call. The company announced its plan to initiate a new quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share sometime during Q4 of fiscal 2012 beginning in July. In addition to the share dividend, Cook announced a new repurchase program for up to $10 billion that will commence after three years in fiscal 2013. Apple said it hopes the new program will help neutralize “the impact of dilution from future employee equity grants and employee stock purchase programs....

As Apple continues to increase its focused on mixed reality experiences, the company has recently joined the WebVR Community Group. WebVR is an initiative that aims to make virtual reality content viewable by everyone, regardless of browser or device… As noted by UploadVR, three Apple engineers have recently joined the WebVR initiative: Multimedia and Software Standards representative Dave Singer, Senior Front-End Developer Brandel Zachernuk, and WebGL Spec Editor Dean Jackson....

Apple is discontinuing its Photo Print Products service, which has been integrated into iPhoto since its launch in 2002. The service expanded from simple prints, to albums, photo books, and calendars. It stayed around on the Mac when iPhoto was replaced with the Photos app a couple of years ago, but the service never made the leap to iOS. Apple’s marketshare in South Korea has skyrocketed in the last quarter, driven by strong demand for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, according to data by Counterpoint. Apple increased its share of sales from 15% to 33%, more than doubling its market power in one quarter. Historically, Samsung has dominated South Korea, largely due to geographic advantages, but Apple’s gains now threaten the #1 spot. Apple is the first foreign smartphone company ever to surpass 20% marketshare in the region, taking the number 2 spot....

Update: Some users are reporting that after opening a document in iWork for iCloud, that document is unable to be opened in the Mac or iOS versions of iWork. Apple has just pushed out an update to its iWork for iCloud web apps that brings a redesign for some elements of the three apps and a long list of new features and improvements. Apple has added a new iOS 7-style UI for each app’s template chooser and document library (the first thing you see when launching the apps, pictured above), but when editing a document you’ll still get the old black and grey editor UI for now....

Last week, we reported on a flaw with the EU’s new no-questions-asked 14-day refund policy that meant customers could effectively get paid apps for free, as refunding the app does not delete it from customers’ devices. In response, Apple has adjusted its App Store purchases slightly for customers who have an excessive number of refunds on file. This means people with a track record of refunding purchase effectively lose the right to refund their purchase....

On the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus announcement day, Apple increased the pricing of its AppleCare+ protection plan from $99 to $129. We’ve since discovered that Apple has additionally discontinued its combined plans for the Apple Watch and iPhone. Since the launch of the Apple Watch earlier this year, Apple offered combined packages that allowed a customer to protect both devices on a single plan. Now, customers must purchase both plans separately....

Apple has just announced a price drop for Apple Watch, now starting at just $299 for 38 mm. For that price, it appears to come equipped with the new nylon bands. It’s unclear how other models in the range are impacted. Updating with more pricing information as they become available … This represents a $50 price drop from the launch $349 price for Apple Watch. Note however, that Apple Watch has been seeing significant $100 discounts in many retail outlets for a while now....
