T-Mobile USA has announced that it has struck an agreement with Apple to begin supporting Apple products in 2013. Deutsche Telecom Rene Obermann made the announcement to analysts today. The company also confirmed the announcement in a press release today: Deutsche Telecom also notes that this new agreement with Apple would affect the company’s cash flow: It is currently unclear which products this deal will cover. Apple currently sells both the iPhone and the iPad on either Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint on the U....

In June, Apple announced that its longtime Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Bob Mansfield, would be retiring after transitioning the role to iPad Hardware VP Dan Riccio over several months. However, earlier this week Apple announced that Mansfield would not be leaving the company. While Riccio was named SVP of Hardware Engineering, Apple said that Mansfield would stay at Apple to “work on future products” under Apple CEO Tim Cook’s direction....

Just two days after the “One more thing” event, the first Apple M1-powered MacBook Air orders are starting to ship to customers. The first deliveries are currently scheduled to arrive as early as next week, Apple says. If you check your order status via Apple’s website, you’ll likely see that your MacBook Air, Mac mini, or MacBook Pro is still “preparing to ship.” But, if you head to the UPS website, you can track the progress of your order and watch as it makes its way to your state....

With recent spats with the FBI and the Obama administration, Apple’s presence in Washington is growing rapidly. Today it was revealed that Apple hired insider Cynthia Hogan to head up its Washington office. Politico broke the story: Hogan will serve as vice president for public policy and government affairs at Apple and report to VP of environment, policy and social initiatives, Lisa Jackson, who joined the company from the EPA in 2013 and reports directly to CEO Tim Cook....

Apple has officially announced its third event in three months. The event will take place on November 10 at 10 a.m. PT, and Apple has invited everyone to tune in remotely with the tagline “One more thing.” This event is expected to focus on the upcoming transition to Apple Silicon in the Mac lineup, with Apple having promised its first Apple Silicon machine would come before the end of the year....

When Apple released Safari 6.0 for OS X Lion this morning (and included it with Mountain Lion), we noticed that a version of the web browser is not available for Windows. Sure enough, some users running Apple’s Safari download website on PCs are also not seeing the download. It appears that earlier Safari versions for Windows are still available. Safari 6.0 includes features that are integrated into OS X and Apple’s own ecosystem itself – like offline Reading List and Password Pane – so it makes sense for Apple to pass on Safari 6....

Apple continues to emphasis its belief that consumers should have better access to their medical information. CNBC reports this week that Apple and Microsoft will send a representative to a meeting on Monday, hosted by the nonpartisan Carin Alliance. The goal of the Carin Alliance and this meeting is to support initiatives by the Department of Health and Human Services, focused on making it easier for patients to access and share their medical information....

There were conflicting reports yesterday about the likely location of the new Apple campus the company promised back in January. With a large number of well-paid jobs at stake, there is stiff competition between states. One report said that North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park was the favored option, while another suggested that Northern Virginia was still very much in the running … However, a fresh report today from WRAL claims that Research Triangle Park is ‘a done deal’ if the state agrees to tax incentives for Apple....

Apple has shared a series of new iPhone X ads on its Apple Australia YouTube channel. The ads showcase the iPhone X camera being used to shoot a handful of different weddings, hence the title of “First Dance.” The ads are a continuation of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” series, which aims to highlight the stunning videography and photography of which the iPhone X is capable. The company has shared a total of four “First Dance” weddings, each of which highlight a different wedding with different age and sexual orientation....

Packed inside the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is a new iSight camera with new sensors and focus pixels which allows for autofocusing up to twice as fast. Panorama photos can now include up to 43 megapixels in each photo. The big story here is the iPhone 6 Plus’s camera, which will support optical image stabilization. Rather than relying only on digital image stabilization, the camera borrows a technique from DSLR cameras allowing the sensor to move up and down and side to side....

If you’re in the market for an external GPU for your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, then you may be interested in the portable eGFX Breakaway Puck from Sonnet. Sonnet’s portable eGPU, which Apple started selling in its stores last April for $399.95, appears to have just dropped in price by 25%. One of several eGPU boxes that Apple sells in its stores, the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck is the smallest and least expensive eGPU that Apple offers....

Apple has started emailing early buyers of the Apple Watch with links to the guided tour videos on its website. The email highlights the videos for Messages, Siri and Digital Touch, but provides individual links to each of the other videos. It also contains a link to the user guide … Apple first started adding videos to the Apple Watch section of its website in early April, adding Phone, Siri, Maps and Music mid-month before Apple Pay, Activity and Workout were uploaded just a couple of days before launch....

We’re just hours away from the launch of the iPhone X (ahhh!), but first Apple has to report how its last quarter went which includes initial iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus sales. iPhone X only became available for pre-order last Friday and won’t appear in today’s results. In addition to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple’s fiscal year 2017 fourth quarter results also include Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple TV 4K....

Apple has started hiring for positions needed at its new Campus 2 facility ahead of a move-in date expected for sometime early next year. Up until now hiring of employees necessary for construction of the new campus has been handled through a third-party. New job listings on Apple’s website appear to be offering permanent positions at the facility set to become the company’s headquarters, specifically for staff that will also be needed to facilitate moving in next year....

Apple has severed its relationship with a small design firm engaged in tablet development, a report claims. SurfaceInk has been working with Apple for nearly ten years. Founder and chief exec of the firm, Eric Bauswell, told the NY Times yesterday that both companies have now gone in separate directions. The divorce happened shortly after SurfaceInk showed a prototype tablet device (above) it had designed. While the chief executive declined to disclose details of his former relatiohship with Apple citing client confidentiality, he did suggest the following: His company was dumped in reaction to “Apple’s growing awareness of our turnkey capabilities…....

In a statement today, Apple said that an employee of its Cork, Ireland campus has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus and is now in isolation. The company says it is continuing to carry out a regular deep cleaning at all offices and retail stores. Some workers are being told to stay at home whilst Apple cooperates with local health authorities to assess the situation. Over the weekend, Apple told staff at its corporate offices around the world that they should work from home if their job allows....

Politico reports that Apple briefed a Congressional committee on the security and privacy of its products following concerns raised by the celebrity nudes story. Apple is clearly focusing on communicating its commitment to securing user data. Tim Cook yesterday published a letter on the company’s website addressing the issue. Apple also added a new webpage specifically focusing on the security credentials of iOS, OS X and its cloud services.
