As we previously detailed, Apple officially unveiled its Facebook integration in iOS 6 today. It is accessible through a system-wide Setting pane. One of the features includes the ability to post right from within apps, which is similar to the current Twitter integration. It also offers access to update contacts for adding Facebook usernames and photos to contact cards. The Facebook integration—alongside Twitter—is now baked directly into the Notification Center with small “Tap to tweet” and “Tap to Post” buttons....

Following Apple’s special event today, the company has updated its online store to include several new accessories including new iPhone case options. The Apple-branded iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus leather and silicone cases now come in a variety of new color options. Also available are new iPhone SE cases fit for the new 4-inch iPhone, which Apple says will also fit the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s which has the same design....

Apple seems to have finally caught up with demand for its latest iMac models. Both the new 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs are now shipping from Apple’s online store in 1-3 business days. Up until earlier today, Apple’s new iMacs were quoted as having a shipping time of 2-3 weeks for the 21.5-inch model and 3-4 weeks for the larger 27-inch configurations. Apple’s redesigned iMacs models have been supply constrained since their November and December launches....

Numerous online stores in China took the iPad off their shelves after Proview said Apple was breaking its trademark on the term “iPad.” The fight continues in court, but Apple released a statement today to China Daily about Proview’s allegations on Apple allegedly breaking the trademark. Apple said it purchased Proview’s iPad trademark over several years ago in 10 different countries. Proview is refusing to transfer the trademark, but Hong Kong courts have already sided with Apple, according to the statement....

Apple Fitness+ was first unveiled at the company’s September Apple Watch and iPad event. We learned about the first workout types to be included, launch countries, and more. Since then we’ve been learning a few more details and even seen the first wave of reviews. Now Fitness+ is available alongside iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2. Take it from someone who would know: Apple CEO Tim Cook has declared Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs, a book that seeks to dispel the idea that Apple can maintain its identity after losing its founder, to be “nonsense.” But Cook went beyond even that claim, noting that the term applied to a wide selection of books about the company. Apple is marking the 10th anniversary of iTunes with a special microsite which, in a rather nice touch, opens in iTunes itself. While the anniversary is on Sunday, the site is already live in the US and UK, though not apparently in all countries … Decade of iTunes features key milestones from iTunes itself and other music-related Apple news – like the 3rd-generation iPod announced on the same day iTunes launched....

Apple has published a new support document explaining that starting on May 25th, it will drop support for the iTunes Store on Windows machines running XP and Vista, as well as the first-generation Apple TV. The company says the change is due to security updates… The support document, first noted by MacRumors, explains that Apple will introduce security changes on May 25th that prevent older PCs from accessing the iTunes Store....

In updates to our original story, we noted the hack’s developer, Alexey V. Borodin, said in an interview that Apple’s method of validating receipts for developers would not protect apps from the hack. Apple followed up with a statement that claimed it is investigating the issue....

As is becoming a tradition, Apple CEO Tim Cook stopped by the Palo Alto Apple Store close to Apple’s Campus today to meet and greet folks buying up Apple’s latest releases, the iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7. While the store wasn’t quite packed, it does appear that Cook got to meet and get some ‘facetime’ with both employees and customers. The Palo Alto Store isn’t the closest to Apple’s campus but it is the one that Steve Jobs used to show up to unannounced frequently and is one of the more open layouts in the area....

Apple today has shared yet another new iPhone 6s ad focusing on the device’s always-lisnteing “Hey Siri” feature. Earlier this week, Apple debuted two new advertisements for the iPhone 6s, one focused on the device’s improved performance and another on “Hey Siri.” This ad stars highly acclaimed director Jon Favreau and showcases the iPhone 6s being used on a film set. Entitled “On the Set,” this 15-second advert shows Favreau utilizing the “Hey Siri” functionality of iPhone 6s to quickly find out information on a scene he is attempting to shoot....

As we’ve reported in the weeks leading up to Apple’s event today, the company has just officially unveiled its international expansion plans for the Apple Pay payments service it first launched in the US last October. The first country outside of the US to get access to Apple Pay is the UK starting in July. Alongside the standard iPhone 12, Apple has announced the iPhone 12 mini, the smallest and most affordable of this year’s iPhone line-up. It’s smaller and lighter than the iPhone 8. Effectively a truly modern iPhone SE, the device has a 5.4-inch display with the same near-all-screen form factor, with a notch … The compact smartphone has the exact same features as the iPhone 12, in a smaller form factor. The mini is available in three capacities, with prices starting at $699....

A consortium including Apple Inc, Microsoft, EMC Corp, Sony, Ericsson, and BlackBerry maker Research In Motion bought bankrupt telecommunications gear maker Nortel Networks Corp’s remaining portfolio of 6000 patents for $4.5 billion, in an auction that began early this week. RIM reportedly paid $770 million, Ericsson paid $340 million. It wasn’t immediately clear how much Apple paid. Google had originally opened bidding with a $900 million bid. The consortium of strange bedfellows will split up the portfolio based on the split of the purchase price....

With only a few days until Apple’s big iPad Pro and Mac event on Tuesday, the company has begun putting up decorations at their host venue, the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York City. Japanese Apple blog Mac Otakara published a video on YouTube, giving us a glimpse at how Apple is currently decorating the venue. Unlike many other events, Apple is holding this one outside of California; since it’s in New York, it starts at 10AM EDT, making that 7AM PDT, versus the usual 10AM PDT....

Last week, a report from iFixit detailed a new feature in iOS that alerts users if an iPhone battery can’t be verified as a genuine Apple part. In a new statement today, Apple defends that warning in iOS as a way to ensure device performance and safety. Some characterized this feature as another way for Apple to eliminate the third-party repair market. Specifically, people questioned the new feature amid the ongoing “Right to Repair” battle....

Apple seems to be honing in on its original content efforts. Just yesterday, news broke that the company has reportedly landed a show featuring J.J Abrams and Sara Bareilles as executive producers. Reported today by Variety, Apple has also landed the rights to develop an adaptation of Gregory David Robert’s novel Shantaram. Eric Warren Singer, known for screenwriting American Hustle, Only the Brave, and more will serve as executive producer and writer for the series....

Every day, Apple runs a shuttle service from San Francisco to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino to help employees commute to work. Sadly, some of these buses have been attacked in the last week by unknown criminals resulting in smashed windows. Mashable confirmed with Apple that the incidents were happening but the company did not say how the buses were being damaged; presumably someone is throwing objects (rocks?) to break the glass....
