It certainly been a huge week for those glued to the latest out of Cupertino: After the iPhone 5 unveiled at a media event in San Francisco Sept. 12, Apple further continued the excitement by making the device available for pre-order on its website this morning in nine countries. The three largest U.S. carriers also joined in on the fun, offering the iPhone 5 at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB on a two-year contract....

Apple announced last night its campaign to support World AIDS Day 2014 with a series of App Store promotions and plans to donate a portion of Apple Store sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to the Global Fund to support the fight against AIDS. Specifically for November 28th, or Black Friday, Apple shared that select Apple products will include a special edition (RED) iTunes gift care with a percentage going toward the Global Fund, and now we know exactly which products will qualify for Apple’s (RED) promotion on Black Friday....

Apple today has stopped signing iOS 13.2.2. This follows the release of iOS 13.2.3 a few weeks ago, which included more improvements to background app performance, the Mail app, Messages, and more. Now that Apple has stopped signing iOS 13.2.2, it means that no one can downgrade from iOS 13.2.3 to that version via iTunes/Finder. Reverting to older iOS builds is common for those in the jailbreak community and can sometimes also be useful for users who experience significant bugs after updating to the latest version of iOS....

Since the release of the first Apple Watch in 2015, Apple has expanded the device’s health capabilities with features like the ECG app and fall detection. In a new interview with the Independent this weekend, Apple’s Jeff Williams, Sumbul Desai, and Kevin Lynch have offered more details on how health became one of the central focuses of Apple Watch. During its WWDC keynote yesterday, Apple officially outlined the roadmap for its transition from Intel processors in the Mac to new Apple Silicon chips. This roadmap includes a Developer Transition Kit hardware program, and now the first developers are being accepted into this program. Through the Developer Transition Kit hardware and Universal App Quick Start Program, developers will receive a Mac mini powered by Apple’s A12Z processor with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage....

Tim Cook and his fellow Apple board members are facing their fourth lawsuit for alleged breaches of the law in respect of the original earnings guidance issued for Q1 2019… Background Apple originally guided revenue in the $89 billion to $93 bilion range for its first fiscal quarter of 2019. In a rare revision, it later wrote to shareholders to say that it was instead forecasting around $84 billion, some $5 billion below the bottom end of its original guidance....

As it continues to focus on the Indian smartphone market, Apple today has slashed prices of its products in the country by as much as 7.5 percent. The move comes as India rolls out the Goods and Services Tax, which is the country’s biggest tax reform since Independence. Here’s how the Times of India describes the tax reform: In India, the iPhone 7 now starts at Rs 56,200, down from its earlier price of Rs 60,000....

We’re beginning to think Apple never sleeps, as news comes in claiming the company is about to revise the already extremely successful retail formula it has been running on high streets worldwide. Mercury News tells us the company intends construction of a new prototype store in downtown Palo Alto, where it is about to move its existing store to a larger space – and there’ll be trees inside the shop....

Apple’s shock earnings warning – the first time it has issued one since 2002 – has sent the stock price crashing in pre-market trading. At the time of writing, AAPL is almost 9% down on yesterday’s close. Apple suppliers are also being hit hard, two of them even more badly than the iPhone maker … AAPL closed yesterday at $157.92, and at the time of writing is trading in the pre-market at $143....

Apple today is releasing a new update to GarageBand for iOS that includes enhancements to take advantage of the iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch Retina display. The new version, previously only shown in iPad Pro marketing material, shows more of instruments and tracks in a single view than on smaller iPads and iPhones. New 3D Touch features are also being included for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users. Separately, Apple is releasing a new music app called Music Memos, and adding a new Live Loops feature to GarageBand for iOS....

Apple is gearing up to issue another bond offering this week, with a conference call with investors reportedly scheduled today, according to reports this morning from Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal. Apple hasn’t announced that it is holding an investor call today as of yet, but the announcement will likely be posted to Apple’s Investor Relations website if it is indeed happening. According to the WSJ, this bond offering will be the first from Apple to involve the euro currency:...

Ahead of opening later this year, Apple has posted several job listings for various positions at their new retail location in the District of Columbia. Located inside the historic former Carnegie Library, the new store will be Apple’s second in Washington D.C., and one of the company’s largest historic restoration projects to date. Apple typically posts job listings several months before opening new locations, indicating that visitors waiting to see the new store may still have to wait a little while....

Apple has shown a renewed focus on Maps with iOS 8. Although headline features like transit did not show at WWDC, recent iOS 8 betas are bringing improvements to the ‘Report A Problem’ features. The frequency at which these updates are passed through has also improved dramatically in the past couple of months. Apple has added a new explicit ‘follow-up by email’ option at the end of the Report A Problem form....

Apple will unveil one of its “grandest Forums in Europe” on November 18th. The opening of Apple Champs-Élysées in Paris will come just over one week after Thailand’s first store, Apple Iconsiam, opens its doors. Both monumental locations mark a significant expansion of Today at Apple around the world. Rockstar, a consortium backed by Apple, Microsoft, Sony, and other tech giants, is planning to sell off most of its patent portfolio, according to Bloomberg. The group beat Google in a bidding war for these patents, which previously belonged to Nortel, but is now seeking to off-load them—or at least the ones that have served no purpose. Rockstar does plan to hold on to a few of the key patents, specifically the ones involved in lawsuits against Google and other companies....

Rumors flew around a few months ago saying that Apple was gearing up to open an Apple Store in New York’s famous Grand Central Terminal. It was even “Confirmed”. The projected size of the store as well as the M.T.A.’s strict guidelines almost made an Apple Store for this location too good to be true. Now, The Observer reports the rumors were too good to be true and although Apple was in early negotiations, the two main parties had a fall out....

Apple’s vice president of communications is departing the company next month. According to a memo obtained by Vox, Steve Dowling has informed his staff at Apple that he plans to leave after 16 years at Apple. Phil Schiller will take over on an interim basis. Dowling served as Apple’s head of corporate public relations for 10 years and was chosen by Tim Cook to lead Apple’s communications efforts in 2014. His promotion to vice president of communications was made official in 2015....

Apple has continued its recent efforts to improve its mapping service by partnering with several new data providers, according to Apple Maps Marketing. The company has historically partnered with companies like TomTom, as well as its own in-house mapping data and others for its information. These new companies don’t yet appear on the list of map data attributions, Apple is recommending businesses who wish to submit bulk locations to be listed in its Maps app instead go through one of the company’s partners, including these ten new names:...
