Apple has started rolling out a redesigned version of the iTunes Store for users running iTunes 12 less than a week ahead of what’s expected to be the launch of OS X Yosemite. The new storefront takes design cues from the iTunes and App Store home pages on iOS devices, featuring a flattened, side-scrolling carousel at the top of the page in place of the old “card”-style header. Apple has been granted a patent today which illustrates how future products such as iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch could have built-in sensors to detect harmful, poisonous gasses, such as CO or CO2 — often dubbed a silent killer due to its odorless, tasteless yet toxic state. While ingraining a physical gas sensor into a device requires another physical chassis opening — something Apple and the industry is clearly moving away from — it would be extremely interesting to see if the company could retain IP68 water-resistance on iPhone and Apple Watch with this theoretical feature built-in....

Apple is opening registration for its annual Camp program for kids at Apple Stores starting today. Three tracks for kids 8-12 this year include sessions on iMovie, GarageBand, and coding. Apple has also introduced new Today at Apple offerings with new Kids Hour sessions covering robotics, filmmaking, and illustration for ages 6-12. Apple Camp 2017 starts July 10 and runs through July 28 for free as long as you register ahead of time....

The iMac Pro has been discontinued, with the Apple Store on Friday removed all build-to-order configurations for the product. The only model now available to buy is the $4999 base config and the Apple Store says that is only available ‘while supplies last’. Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers are now servicing Apple Watch Series 2 models with swollen batteries or that won’t power on. Apple Car rumors have been floating around for years, and a new report from Reuters today shed more light on the highly-secretive project. Buried deep in the Cellular section of the Settings app in iOS 9 is a new networking feature called Wi-Fi Assist that lets your iPhone use cellular data over Wi-Fi during poor connectivity. Intended to remedy those times when your iPhone gets stuck trying to load data on a weak Wi-Fi connection due to range or other issues, Wi-Fi Assist raised a concern for many iPhone users on tiered data plans after iOS 9 was released....

As the back to school season continues, Apple has recently brought back its extended Apple Music trial offer for students.
