Apple announced last night its campaign to support World AIDS Day 2014 with a series of App Store promotions and plans to donate a portion of Apple Store sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to the Global Fund to support the fight against AIDS. Apple today has stopped signing iOS 13.2.2. This follows the release of iOS 13.2.3 a few weeks ago, which included more improvements to background app performance, the Mail app, Messages, and more. During its WWDC keynote yesterday, Apple officially outlined the roadmap for its transition from Intel processors in the Mac to new Apple Silicon chips. This roadmap includes a Developer Transition Kit hardware program, and now the first developers are being accepted into this program. Through the Developer Transition Kit hardware and Universal App Quick Start Program, developers will receive a Mac mini powered by Apple’s A12Z processor with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage....

Tim Cook and his fellow Apple board members are facing their fourth lawsuit for alleged breaches of the law in respect of the original earnings guidance issued for Q1 2019… Background Apple originally guided revenue in the $89 billion to $93 bilion range for its first fiscal quarter of 2019. In a rare revision, it later wrote to shareholders to say that it was instead forecasting around $84 billion, some $5 billion below the bottom end of its original guidance....

As it continues to focus on the Indian smartphone market, Apple today has slashed prices of its products in the country by as much as 7.5 percent. Apple today is releasing a new update to GarageBand for iOS that includes enhancements to take advantage of the iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch Retina display. Ahead of opening later this year, Apple has posted several job listings for various positions at their new retail location in the District of Columbia. Located inside the historic former Carnegie Library, the new store will be Apple’s second in Washington D.C., and one of the company’s largest historic restoration projects to date. Apple typically posts job listings several months before opening new locations, indicating that visitors waiting to see the new store may still have to wait a little while....

Rockstar, a consortium backed by Apple, Microsoft, Sony, and other tech giants, is planning to sell off most of its patent portfolio, according to Bloomberg. The group beat Google in a bidding war for these patents, which previously belonged to Nortel, but is now seeking to off-load them—or at least the ones that have served no purpose. Rockstar does plan to hold on to a few of the key patents, specifically the ones involved in lawsuits against Google and other companies....

Rumors flew around a few months ago saying that Apple was gearing up to open an Apple Store in New York’s famous Grand Central Terminal. It was even “Confirmed”. The projected size of the store as well as the M.T.A.’s strict guidelines almost made an Apple Store for this location too good to be true. Now, The Observer reports the rumors were too good to be true and although Apple was in early negotiations, the two main parties had a fall out....

Apple’s vice president of communications is departing the company next month. According to a memo obtained by Vox, Steve Dowling has informed his staff at Apple that he plans to leave after 16 years at Apple. Phil Schiller will take over on an interim basis. Dowling served as Apple’s head of corporate public relations for 10 years and was chosen by Tim Cook to lead Apple’s communications efforts in 2014. His promotion to vice president of communications was made official in 2015....

Apple has continued its recent efforts to improve its mapping service by partnering with several new data providers, according to Apple Maps Marketing. The company has historically partnered with companies like TomTom, as well as its own in-house mapping data and others for its information.
